About UK Driving Test Pass Rates
How we compile pass rate data and why this resource exists.
What This Site Does
We compile and present DVSA practical driving test pass rate statistics in a way that's easy to search, compare, and understand. The site covers 250 test centres across 12 UK regions, with data on pass rates, male/female breakdowns, test volumes, and year-on-year trends.
Our Data Source
All pass rate data is derived from official statistics published by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the UK government agency responsible for conducting practical driving tests. DVSA publishes quarterly statistics covering every test centre in Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
We process this data to calculate regional averages, national rankings, and year-on-year trends. While we make every effort to ensure accuracy, figures should be treated as indicative rather than exact — DVSA updates its data quarterly and minor discrepancies can occur between reporting periods.
Methodology
- Pass rates are calculated as: (number of passes / total tests conducted) x 100
- National rankings are ordered by overall pass rate from highest to lowest
- Regional averages are the mean pass rate across all centres within a region
- Trends compare the current period to the previous reporting period
- Male/female breakdowns are provided per centre where data is available
Editorial Independence
This site is an independent resource. We are not affiliated with DVSA, the UK Government, or any driving school. Our goal is to present pass rate data clearly and help learner drivers make informed decisions about their test preparation and centre choice.
Where we link to external services (such as the GOV.UK test booking page), we do so for the reader's convenience, not for commercial purposes.
Why We Built This
Finding and comparing driving test pass rates shouldn't require downloading spreadsheets from government websites. We built this site because:
- Learner drivers deserve easy access to the data that affects their test experience
- Comparing centres, regions, and counties should take seconds, not hours
- Understanding what pass rates mean (and don't mean) helps set realistic expectations
- The data exists publicly — it should be presented publicly in a useful format
Accuracy & Updates
We update our data in line with DVSA's quarterly publication schedule. If you notice an error or outdated figure, please let us know. We take accuracy seriously and will correct any confirmed inaccuracies promptly.
Disclaimer
This site is for informational purposes only. Pass rate statistics describe historical averages and do not predict individual test outcomes. Your preparation, driving ability, and the specific conditions on test day are far more significant than the centre's overall pass rate.
Always book your driving test through the official GOV.UK service. Do not use unofficial third-party booking sites.
